This case study presents a pioneering South-South cooperation initiative between FUNDESNAP (Bolivia), a Private Conservation Trust Fund (CTF), and the Tanzania Forest Fund (TaFF), a Public CTF, developed within the framework of the BRIDGE Project. Through a structured mentorship process, both CTFs collaborated to strengthen TaFF’s technical and financial capacities by jointly designing a Strategic Financial Plan (SFP) tailored to the Tanzanian context and aligned with long-term sustainability objectives.

The mentorship effectively addressed key challenges, including institutional differences, regulatory asymmetries, and financing gaps, leveraging over 50 years of combined experience. Proven Bolivian financial instruments, such as the SFP framework, the Water Fund, and the SIS-Investment Facility, were adapted to the specific Tanzanian context through bilateral missions, co-design workshops, and dynamic knowledge exchanges. This collaboration generated practical technical outcomes, including a digital Manual for SFP development, a draft version of TaFF’s SFP, and a concept note for resource mobilization entitled “Guardians of the Forest.
