The Protected Areas Conservation Trust of Belize (PACT) established an emergency relief fund to mobilise finance to support communities affected by the wildfires and increase resilience and preparedness to future disasters. With climate change increasing environmental risks for people and nature, funding emergency relief and preparedness has become an integral part of our mission\u2014and we believe that it will, inevitably, become part of the work of many more CTFs as our planet warms.<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n \n \n \n <\/svg>\n <\/div>\n\n We support resilience initiatives in protected areas as well as in agriculture, \nhousing and other sectors. We finance the management of approximately 100 \nprotected areas, collaborating with around 25 NGOs and government agencies, as \nwell as buffer communities around the protected areas. <\/div>\n <\/div>\n \t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n PACT was established in 1996, as a national conservation financial mechanism \nfor our national protected areas system. Since 2011, we have mobilized climate \nfinance and we are the only entity in Belize accredited by the Green Climate Fund \nand the Adaptation Fund. <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n \t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
