C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire possesses an extraordinary natural heritage; however, its forests are among the most threatened in West Africa. <\/strong><\/p>

Between 2001 and 2024, the country lost approximately 3.99 million hectares of tree cover, making it one of the critical deforestation hotspots in Africa. In response to deforestation and degradation, the Foundation for Parks and Reserves of C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire (FPRCI) is implementing a jurisdictional Emissions Reduction Payments Agreement (ERPA) as part of the Forests Carbon Partnership Facility (FCFP) of the World Bank that combines forest conservation, reforestation, and agroforestry. The pilot program began in 2020 in the southwest of the country and involves five regional councils.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n \n \n \n <\/svg>\n <\/div>\n\n Our mission is to manage environmental funds to finance conservation projects \nand programs and strengthen the management capacities of protected natural \nareas in C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire. We act as a trust fund, which allows us to acquire or \nfinance land designated for protected areas, and promote debt-for-nature \nswaps. In short, the FPRCI is a key instrument for the sustainable financing of \nthe country\u2019s biodiversity. <\/div>\n <\/div>\n \t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n The Foundation for the Parks and Reserves of C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire(FPRCI) is the \ncountry\u2019s first trust fund dedicated to the conservation of national parks \nand reserves. It originated under Law 2002-102 (February 11, 2002) and \nwas established on November 20, 2003. It is a private, non-profit institution \nrecognized as being of public benefit (Decree No. 2009-05, January 8, 2009). <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n \t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
