The Chile Nature Fund (FNCh, its acronym in Spanish) was legally established in September 2021 and began operations in June 2022. Its establishment marked the culmination of over a decade of collaborative work between various national and international organizations that spearheaded the creation of a dedicated financial mechanism to support the country’s conservation efforts.

We began our work with the Marine Protected Areas Program, recognizing the enormous ecological importance of marine ecosystems in Chile. The country has the fifth largest marine protected area in the world.
At FNCh we aim to mobilize and supplement the financial resources necessary for the effective conservation and restoration of nature and protected areas in the country. Our governance structure includes a board of directors and council composed of leaders in conservation, finance, climate change, and sustainable development, including the participation of local and Indigenous communities.
