Mgahinga Gorilla National Park and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, located in southwestern Uganda bordering the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda, represent one of the oldest, most complex and biologically rich systems on earth.

The ecosystem has evolved over 50 million years, and is home to a vast biodiversity: 120 mammal species, 260 bird species, 200 butterfly species and 324 tree species. Mountain gorillas, chimpanzees, elephants, and buffalos are among its most emblematic dwellers, and they hold half of the world’s remaining population of mountain gorillas.
