This case study focuses on the mentorship program between MAR Fund, a conservation trust fund (CTF) with 20 years of experience in the Mesoamerican Reef region, and Chile Nature Fund (FNC), Chile’s first and only CTF, established less than three years ago.
The mentorship experience leveraged MAR Fund’s expertise to support FNC in launching its Marine Protected Areas Program (PAMP) and develop a robust framework for conservation in Chile’s high-priority marine areas. Chile’s classification as a high-income country limits bilateral funding opportunities, increasing the urgency for FNC to engage private sector funding sources. Both CTFs share the vision of integrating private sector actors as key players in biodiversity conservation, representing a transformative shift in conservation financing.
